Gatwick: significant disruption to rail services

Gatwick has advised that it is expecting significant disruption to rail services to and from Gatwick on 13, 14 and 16 December due to a train drivers strike. There will be no Southern trains and reduced Gatwick Express services.

Commuters are urged to plan their journey in advance and allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport. The train strike will ultimately lead to an increased number of people driving in the area, so roads are expected to be much busier than usual.

Passengers who aren’t flying, but use Gatwick’s station as an interchange, Southern is advising you not to travel.

Which services will be affected?

There will be no Southern services.
There will be no Gatwick Express services from Gatwick to Brighton.
Thameslink services are not expected to be affected by the strike, but will be extremely busy. Great Western services to Reading will not be affected.

Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express will be accepting each others tickets during the strike.

Further rail strikes are planned to January 2017. Visit Southern’s website for the latest information and dates.
